When students cannot learn the way we teach them, we must teach them the way they learn. Students learn best when instruction and learning content match their learning style strength. Elementary students need to learn in a variety of ways, using visual, auditory and kinesthetic (movement) methods. When students are introduced to new material through their learning or perceptual preference, they remember significantly more than when the skills are introduced through a less preferred learning style; that style should be used for review and practice. Our teachers adapt curriculum to the group they are teaching as well as to each individual child to promote optimal learning and development.
